Helvellyn 15k 1st November 2014Ullswater 14k trail 2nd November 2014
This was a great training weekend at the lake district (dirty double) with Alnwick harriers, first up on Saturday Helvellyn 15k, it was the first time I competed in any trail race, it was tougher and more undulating than I’d ever expected but I found enough strength to hold on for a very pleasing win, this was a very tough 15k race so I was delighted and surprised to follow it up with a win at Ullswater 14k on Sunday. This would also be the first time I’d ever raced back to back days, it was a great training weekend for strengthening the legs.
World Age Group Duathlon Championships (25-29 years)
June 1st 2014 in Pontevedra, Spain
I qualified automatically to represent Great Britain in the World Age Group Sprint Duathlon Championships with a win in my first duathlon in Morpeth, Northumberland in April 2014.
The World Championships were held in Pontevedra Spain on June 1st 2014. This was my first major championship event and even with some intense training leading up to the event, the best I could hope for would be a bronze medal. The race went as well as it possibly could have, winning my age group by some 54 seconds to take the gold and become World Champion at the first time of asking.
